As said, the conference will focus on the global effects of the trifold planetary crisis, which entails climate change, pollution and the loss of biodiversity.
The slow progress toward the realization of the sustainable development goals until 2030, the challenges of sustainable production and consumption and the energy transition will be discussed.
The challenges of the “global south”, affected by the climate change to which it hasn’t even contributed to any considerable extent, will be especially considered.
There will also be talk about the health effects of the environmental crisis, including the pollution that causes thousands of premature deaths a year, as well as the growing urbanization trend – how cities plan to face economic, energy and health challenges.
A special panel will be dedicated to the role of science in the green transition and sustainable development.
As emphasized, this is a unique global conference which gathers a group of world-renowned academics, such as Astronomer Royal and former President of the Royal Society Lord Martin Rees, Professor of Business Economics at the University of Cambridge Michael Pollitt, leading experts of the World Bank, representatives of the UNEP, UN-Habitat and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
It is said that the conference is organized by a group of young people who were educated and lived abroad and who have returned to Serbia with the aim of applying the acquired knowledge and experience in their country.
The conference on the green transition, as emphasized, will put Belgrade in the center of the global discussion about the challenges of the green transition and provide Serbian companies with the opportunity to present their solutions and ways of doing business in front of the international community.
