Students of architecture from Belgrade on Stara planina – Creating projects for revival of mountain’s villages

Students of the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade are staying on Stara planina, more precisely, in the village of Pokrevenik, where they will work on the preparation of projects for the reconstruction of publicly owned buildings in the villages of Krivstica, Dobri Do and Nisor. The students have already prepared the projects for the village of Pokrevenik, and now they will hand them over to the president of the Local Community of Pokrevenik, Slavoljub Kostadinovic.

According to Kostadinovic, the work and the effort invested by the students of architecture, headed by their professor, Danijela Milovanovic Rodic, is of invaluable importance for the villages of Stara planina, whose populace mostly consists of the elderly.

– They already stayed in Pokrevenik last summer when they began preparing projects in public ownership, such as the outpatient clinic, the old dairy, the youth center. Now the projects are completed and it is of enormous importance for us, considering how much the preparation of projects costs and the fact that, with those projects, we will be able to apply for funds, so that we could gradually renew these facilities. The students will be stationed in Pokrevenik, but this time they will be working on surveying and preparing projects for public facilities in the villages of Koprivstica, Nisor and Dobri Do, so these villages will get projects as well. Also, during their stay, the students will educate the local populace about the importance of preserving the architecture, the cultural heritage, the development of rural tourism and the opportunities that exist when it comes to the preservation of the Stara planina villages – says Kostadinovic.
