Selling silence instead of music and beer - Cerevic eco- and ethno-club between the Danube and Fruska Gora, near Novi Sad

(Cerevic eco- and ethno-club)
He used the experiences he gained while working in the Serbian tourism sector and during the time he spent in Austria to build a complex in Srem, offering rural, wine and recreational tourism services. In an "ideal location" - with the Danube river on one side and Fruska Gora mountain on the other side, he opened an ethno club and a wine house with a wine cellar. Two decades ago Dusko Vidak, the owner and founder of the eco- and ethno-club Cerevic,
situated in the namesake village near Novi Sad, bought a house built in 1928 and started adapting it to the requirements of the rural tourism development.
- I am engaged in the tourism sector for 40 years now. In the 1980's I was staying in Austria, as a representative of the Tourism Association of Yugoslavia, and I learned their way of doing the business in the rural tourism sector. After I returned from Vienna, I bought a house in Cerevic, which is situated in a beautiful surroundings, on a slope of Fruska Gora mountain, by the Danube river, and I decided few years ago to open a holiday resort in that location – Vidak, who is also the founder and director of the Tourism Organization of Vojvodina and the Vojvodina Association for Rural Development and Rural Tourism, says in an interview for eKapija.
As Vidak explains, here they "sell" silence and peace because this place on the territory of Beocin municipality is a real "resort for the soul".
- We organize tours to nearby taverns on the Danube where a tamburitza band is playing. We also offer our guests other programs such as a tour of monasteries, ride on our boat, picnic at the beautiful banks of the Danube, fishing. I also tried to introduce a cycling tour of Fruska Gora in the offer and to open a cycling center in our club. However, the guests prefer eating lamb and pork roast to riding a bike, and the national cycling association also failed to express any interest in supporting my initiative – Vidak explains.
Most of the guests at Cerevic are from Belgrade, but there are also foreigners - from Slovenia, Germany, Hungary, England, and even Florida.
The eco- and ethno-club Cerevic comprises a total of 30 beds. There is also a big wine cellar whose walls are covered by shelves filled with the best wines of Srem.
- These wines are made by local small wineries from the right side of the Danube. Each guest gets to choose which wine he or she wants to taste – Vidak stresses.
Homemade wine, ham, sausages, bacon... These are the specialties that almost every household in Cerevic makes and they are also included in the breakfast menu of this eco- and ethno-club.
