Driverless Car for Southeast Europe to Premiere at EXPO 2027?

The premiere of the so-called flying cars, that is, autonomous cars for southeast Europe, should take place at the specialized exhibition EXPO 2027. The president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, pointed out that there was no doubt that Serbia would welcome EXPO 2027 with autonomous cars, that is, driverless vehicles.

– We achieve such successes thanks to the intelligence of our people, and another one of the big successes that Serbia has achieved is that it will preside over the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence. That shows how much Serbia has managed to do. We will be able to get and learn so much – Vucic said, as announced by the Government of Serbia.

More details about said vehicles, however, were not disclosed in this press release.

However, that this is being considered, let us remind, was hinted at several months ago by the minister of information and telecommunications of Serbia, Mihailo Jovanovic, who announced at the time that the plan was to get the highest level of autonomous driving, level 5, entailing an autonomous vehicle which could operate entirely without a driver, by EXPO 2027.

Last summer, the Ministry of Interior issued permits for the test drive of two autonomous vehicles, and as Jovanovic said at the time, it is important because the value of the market of autonomous vehicles, that is, the software which enables autonomous driving, amounts to EUR 100 billion at the moment. The minister explained at the time that said permits pertained to level 3 autonomous driving, where there’s a driver in the vehicle, who takes over the control of the vehicle in case there’s a problem.
