The businessman Miroslav Miskovic, the owner of Delta Holding, spoke on the first day of this year’s Kopaonik Business Forum. Miskovic said that the state had to invest in the citizens’ education – “from farmers to professors.”

After he briefly explained the financial results of Delta, Miskovic said that artificial intelligence should be accepted as soon as possible.

– Anything that’s new is not accepted easily. I’m not sure when the first train went from Belgrade to Nis, I believe it was in ’81. Then it was like “oh, no, we can’t have trains running through Serbia, they’ll kill our sheep” – said Miskovic.

According to him, artificial intelligence should be accepted as soon as possible, although new things are mostly accepted with difficulty. He added that those who didn’t accept the new technology would soon “fail” as business people.

“Neither the dollar nor the euro, and not real estate either”

When asked whether he would “bet” on the dollar in the future, Miskovic says that he wouldn’t, but adds that he wouldn’t bet on the euro either.

– Many people with money buy real estate and they’ve played it the smartest in the past 20, 30 years and protected the value of their money. Now the former Yugoslavia needs to invest in the stock exchange, because, with good propaganda and marketing, they could trade shares, and we should forget about apartments for a while – Miskovic said.

“Creating a factory is not a problem, but who runs it is”

Miskovic said that the state needed to invest in the citizens’ education – “from farmers to professors.”

He added that Serbia lacked a lot of professional managers. His example are hospitals, which are run by doctors in Serbia, and not by managers.

– Creating a factory is not a problem, but who runs it is. We lack good managers – he added.

Miskovic commented on the results of the PISA tests, which are the worst in the region in Serbia, getting worse with each year.

– Our children are educated by teachers with salaries of RSD 65,000. I’m sorry that I have to put it this way, but that’s the way it is. When I was young, teachers wore ties. I’m not sure there are any teachers who wear ties now – said Miskovic, commenting on the fact that the salaries of the workers who educate children are too small, whereas their responsibility is big.

Commenting on the entrance of the Croatian businessman Ivica Todorovic into the world of politics, that is, his founding of a political party, Miskovic said that he believed that business people should not deal with politics.

– I don’t like politics, you can write that down – Miskovic told the audience.
