Inflation in January Slows Down to 6.4%

Prices of goods and services used for personal consumption in January 2024 in relation to December 2023 increased by 0.3%, on average, whereas consumer prices in January 2024 increased by 6.4% in relation to January 2023, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia announced.

Consumer prices, by which the inflation is measured, in 2023 in relation to 2022 increased by 12.1%, on average.

Observed by main groups according to the destination of consumption, in January 2024 in relation to the previous month, increase of prices was noted in the group Health (0.7%), in the groups Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, Recreation and culture and Restaurants and hotels (each by 0.6%), Food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.5%), Alcoholic beverages and tobacco and Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (each by 0.2%) and in the group Transport (0.1%).


Decrease of prices was noted in the group Clothing and footwear (-1.3%).
