She announced that, in the next few years, “more than ever before will be invested in energy infrastructure” and that there was great potential for a wider cooperation with Greece in the field of energy.
Djedovic Handanovic, while presenting the development projects in energy at the Serbia-Greece Business Forum, pointed out that the traditionally good, friendly relations of Serbia and Greece were an excellent basis for improving the economic cooperation.
– Energy is a field in which we can cooperate considerably more in the coming period, considering the great experience of Greek companies in the field of energy transition, but also the interest in a much more extensive cooperation in the sectors of gas and electrical energy. I believe that there is great potential for cooperating more in the energy sector with the Greek partners – said Djedovic Handanovic.
The minister said that, following the completion of the interconnection with Bulgaria at the end of 2023, Serbia had physically connected with the gas sources in the Caspian Region and the LNG terminal in the Greek Port of Alexandroupolis, “which means that Greece is becoming an important partner of Serbia in gas supply.”
– We have already agreed deliveries of up to 400 million cubic meters of gas a year from Azerbaijan by 2026, which, after that, could by up to three times higher – said the minister, as announced by the ministry.
She also said that Serbia had reserved 300 million cubic meters of gas from the LNG terminal in Alexandroupolis on an annual level, from the moment the terminal became fully operational, which was expected to happen in the coming weeks.
– We are also considering connections with oil sources in Greece, through North Macedonia, which we discussed in more detail today with the prime minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis. We want to cooperate with Greece in this field as well, which would additionally diversify the supply and improve the energy security – the minister emphasized.
