Last year, Serbia was the first destination in the world by the rate of the growth of income from foreign tourists compared to 2019, according to the latest report of the tourism barometer of the United Nations (UN), announced the Ministry of Tourism.

– In 2023, according to the preliminary data of the National Bank of Serbia, a record income from foreign tourists, in the amount of EUR 2.5 billion, was realized, which is around 80% more compared to 2019 – it is said on the Instagram account of the Ministry of Tourism.

This result, it is added, is mostly down to the trend of the increase in the number of foreign tourists following the pandemic, especially in 2023, in which a number of 2.1 million foreign guests was recorded, which is a fifth more than the year before.

– The fastest growing market last year was the Chinese one, with an increase in the number of arrivals of 180%, and the rising trend of the tourist traffic is present in other priority markets as well, primarily in the countries in the neighborhood – the ministry said.
