Talks in Progress with Romanians on Construction of Gas Interconnection Belgrade-Mokrin

The president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said that a gas interconnection to Romania, from Belgrade to Mokrin, would be built, and that the project was being agreed with Romanians.

Vucic pointed out that the construction of the gas pipeline was important for the development of industry. While visiting the works on the construction of the “Vojvodina Smile” fast route, which will be built from Backi Breg to Srpska Crnja, with a length of 185.5 kilometers, in response to a journalist’s question about the announced gas connection Mokrin-Belgrade, he said that they were waiting for the interconnection to be agreed with Romanians.

– We are working on establishing gas connections, that is why we are going down with it to the bottom of the Zlatibor Region. So, to Nova Varos, to Prijepolje and Priboj, so that those people get gas supply, and Aleksandrovac-Tutin is being completed at the moment, the steel is done, now you have to install the “plastic” (pipes) in these places. That’s what we call it. Those main gas pipelines are made of steel, and then you extend the “plastic” to the end users, which is good for the ecology, environmental protection, which then makes it good for industry too – Vucic explained.

There is one country in the region which has no gas pipeline at all, and when there is no gas pipeline, there is no industry, Vucic added.

He explained that industry, new technology, artificial intelligence were important and added that Serbia needed to invest in those things.
