By 2025, through the broadband communication infrastructure construction project, over 99% of households in rural areas will be covered by the new-generation networks. This will provide access to optical Internet with a speed of over 100 Mb/s to even the most remote villages, according to the Minister of Information and Telecommunications Mihailo Jovanovic, as announced by the respective ministry.

- In just one year, at the proposal of the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications, four important laws have been adopted in the telecommunications, information society and information sector: the Law on Electronic Communications, Digital Europe, the Law on Public Information and Media and the Law on Electronic Media. The new Law on Electronic Communications facilitates the construction, interconnection, access and sharing of telecommunications infrastructure, encourages the construction of infrastructure in rural areas and enables the implementation of the 5G auction in accordance with the European Code. The new law foresees the mandatory introduction of electronic bills for services, enables operators to more fairly and efficiently share the existing infrastructure and introduces the obligation to register prepaid mobile users - said Jovanovic at the opening of the 31st TELFOR telecommunications forum in Belgrade, emphasizing that, this way, even the most remote villages get access to optical Internet.

He reiterated that, on June 30 in Brussels, Serbia officially became "part of the big European family, side by side with full members of the European Union", by joining the Digital Europe program.

At TELFOR, all relevant aspects of telecommunications and information technologies are being presented and discussed: R&D, technical aspects, development, economics, education, equipment, services and systems. The TELFOR conference has a large number of authors, individual visitors and representatives of companies from over 30 different countries, from all telecommunications and close segments, according to the Ministry's announcement.
