Djedovic Handanovic: Completion of the Serbia-Bulgaria gas interconnection in the coming days

The construction of the Serbia-Bulgaria gas interconnection is in its the final phase and the new gas pipeline should be put into trial operation before the end of the month, said the Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic after a tour of these works. As she pointed out, the works are proceeding with the expected dynamics.

- Finer works have comenced on the Nis 2 gas measurement and regulation station, while Trupale, as the largest facility on this pipeline, has been completed. Next week, the Ministry of Interior will control the gas interconnection, inspect the works, in order to fulfill all the conditions for the gas pipeline to enter trial operation before the end of November, as was planned - said Djedovic Handanovic.

The minister visited the gas-measuring regulation stations Nis 2 and Trupale with Nenad Jocic, head of the Directorate for Preventive Fire Protection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. She also reminded that all administrative prerequisites for gas deliveries from Azerbaijan have been met.

- A contract regarding gas interconnection was signed between Transportgas and Bulgartransgas. This fulfills the contractual prerequisites with all involved parties for the interconnector to enter trial operation. We have obtained have another source of gas supply during this heating season, but also in the future, which is very important for the security of supply for our citizens and the economy. This week, a contract was signed for the delivery of gas from Azerbaijan up to 400 million cubic meters per year until 2026, and after that, from 2027, those quantities can increase up to three times - reminded Djedovic Handanovic.
