There are efforts toward reaching an agreement with the states which belong to the Schengen area to not count the time spent working as part of the 180 days they can spend in EU states without a visa for Serbian transporters, said the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic.

While visiting the “Day of Serbian Transporters” event at the Belgrade Fair, he said that, regarding Germany, the number of permits had increased more than 36%, from 45,000 to 61,000, that the number of permits in the negotiations with Finland had increased 25% and that the number of permits in the negotiations with Spain had increased 100%, as was the case with Hungary as well, it is said on the official website of the ministry.

– In the negotiations with Italy, we increased the number of permits by over 48%. Also, we are now negotiating with other states and I believe that, in the coming period, we will enable our transporters to have even more permits – Vesic said.

He said that road transporters had certain demands regarding fuel excise taxes and that they were talking about it with the Ministry of Finance

– In any case, we will make additional efforts as a state to help our transporters be better equipped and remain what they already are – the most important companies in the Balkans – Vesic said.

He said that he had also discussed safety, another important topic, as well as the number of their employees, with the transport companies.
