In the past years, the concepts of interior and exterior design are noticeably deviating from the set frameworks. The spaces we live and work in are becoming “open concept” spaces. We work in our living rooms and bedrooms, we play darts and table football in our offices. The borders are slowly being erased. Apartments, especially in big cities, are getting smaller, and the challenges for interior designers – bigger. Because it is necessary to fit several units into one that functions perfectly. Along with the inevitable esthetics and quality, more and more attention is paid to functionality. The secret is in understanding the needs of those who will stay in the space.

Although covid indicated that we would say goodbye to working in offices, it hasn’t happened. In Serbia, the demand for office space is increasing, especially in the capital city. Last year alone, there were 120,000 new square meters of office space on the Belgrade market, which is a year-on-year growth of over 15%. All those spaces need to be developed. Although offices in the capital city are the most expensive in the region, there are almost no vacant ones anymore, and the most demanded ones are precisely those that feature the most luxurious equipment.

Another request that office space owners or tenants have is for it to adapt to various needs and requests. Smart buildings are becoming imperative, as are the requests of a modern client when it comes to sustainable furniture, energy efficient devices, economical heating, modern lighting.

The proper functioning of this concept is in the hands of experts from the fields of interior design, landscaping, wood and textile industries, furniture industry, joinery, producers and traders of paints, coatings, wallpapers, household appliances, lighting, acoustics, small home devices, garden equipment, lawns, pools…

In the special edition newsletter “Interior and Exterior – Inspirational Spaces Generating Good Ideas”, we will talk to all of them and present the latest trends in the development of living and working space, as well as landscaping. That way, we will try to present the current situation, but also reveal how the market will develop.
