BAHUS exceeds Bacchus


Bacchus was born in the winter like a snake, becoming the lion in the spring and killed and devoured as a bull, goat or deer in the middle of summer. The myth of Bacchus tells that he was born again from his heart, which missed its devourer.
A renewal of this ritual content of the myth, members of Bacchus cult, mostly women, began with a ritual act of the long exhausting dance that brought them into a trance. In ancient Rome Bacchus was celebrated as the God of wine and sex. During the bacchanalian festival , held on 16th and 17th of March, orgies and wild parties were organized. These celebrations, due to highly sexual nature, often escaped the control , and were prohibited by the Roman Senate at 186 year B.C.
This is one of the motives associated with Bacchus, mostly known here as the Roman god of wine. Today, we recognize him as strong symbol of life energy, ability for the rebirth and in the spirit of respect of the wine cult. One of the first famous Belgrade restaurant on the water, which carries the name of Bacchus, in some ways has it all.
