Is Novi Sad to Be Left Without the New “Karadjordje”? – What is Happening with the Announced Stadium for 17,500 Spectators?

The new “Karadjordje” stadium, announced several times and even included in the planning documents of the City of Novi Sad, all things considered, will not be raised any time soon in that city. The reconstruction of the existing stadium is being prepared, in order for it to meet UEFA 3 standards, and then subsequently UEFA 4 standards as well, whereby it would acquire the license for the organization of both qualification and group-stage matches under UEFA, and eKapija has looked into whether the construction of the new stadium, with a capacity of up to 17,500 spectators, has been abandoned.

As FK Vojvodina (Vojvodina Football Club) told our portal, according to what they know, no decision to abandon the construction of the new stadium has been made, but they don’t have any information about when the construction of “the new stadium could potentially begin.”

– Considering that FK Vojvodina is not the owner, but only the user of the Karadjordje stadium, we believe that somebody from the city authorities could give you more information about this. According to our findings, no decision to abandon the construction of the new stadium has been made, although, at the moment, there are no announcements regarding when the construction of the new stadium could potentially begin – FK Vojvodina said for eKapija.

The Ministry for Public Investments, which was first announced as a government office, and then as a ministry, and which ran the projects of the construction of stadiums in other cities, such as Loznica, Leskovac and Zajecar, referred us to the City of Novi Sad, where we didn’t get an answer to the question whether the construction of the new stadium, which was envisaged in the Detailed Regulation Plan of the location of the Karadjordje stadium, has been abandoned.
