Representatives of German companies which operate in Serbia have pointed out that they are planning to increase investments and the number of jobs, says the press release by the Ministry of Economy.

The minister of economy of Serbia, Rade Basta, and his associates talked to the delegation of the Association of the German Economy for Eastern Europe about concrete propositions for improving the cooperation, considering that Germany is an important trade partner of our country.

The delegation of the Association of the German Economy for Eastern Europe has expressed gratitude for the support that Serbia provides to new investments.

Energy projects important part of economic relations

Basta said that one of the key topics of the meeting had been the question of the green transition, considering the fact that green energy is the future, and emphasized that the economic relations between the two countries needed to be looked at in that context as well.

The minister pointed to the fact that energy transition and energy projects on the local and regional levels, as well as the education and training of young people are of essential importance for the economic development of Serbia.

According to him, auctions and transparency of the issuing of permits for renewable energy sources, as well as the defining of the final deadlines for the launching of the construction of renewable energy structures, is something that needs to be paid attention to.

– I believe that, as part of the green transition, it is also very important to talk about the possibility of removing the moratorium on the construction of nuclear power plants in Serbia – the minister pointed out and added that energy diversification was one of the pre-requirements for improving the economic environment in Serbia.

Basta estimated that the working visit of the delegation of the Association of the German Economy for Eastern Europe was an important step toward the further development of bilateral economic relations.
