MAT: Serbia's industrial production in February increased thanks to electricity production

Industrial production in Serbia in February, compared to the same month of 2022, has been increased by the surge in production of electricity and gas by 30%, the latest issue of the journal Macroeconomic Analysis and Trends (MAT) reports.

According to Stojan Stamenkovic, the manufacturing industry in February had a year-on-year drop of production of 3.7%.

In that sector, the biggest year-on-year decline in January was the production of basic metals (39%), followed by the production of metal products, except machines and devices (24%), the chemical industry (22%), the manufacture of products from other non-metallic minerals (17%).


In February, the food industry had a year-on-year decline of two percent.

On the other hand, the production of computers, electronic and optical products has increased significantly (36%).

- The data on foreign trade exchange show a reduction in dynamics on both sides, coupled with the fact that imports in February had a year-on-year decrease in value by as much as 5.4% - Stamenkovic stated.
