Integral designing - Graphisoft and ArchiCAD celebrated 15th anniversary of presence in Serbia

Graphisoft yesterday celebrated the 15th anniversary of presence of the company and ArchiCAD software in Serbia. On that occasion, an expert meeting under the name of Integral Designing was organized by the company hiCAD, the Serbian Chamber of Engineers and the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce (BCC).

Professor Dr. Dragoslav Sumarac, the President of the Serbian Chamber of Engineers, opened the meeting and welcomed a big number of the conference participants and visitors.

Participants were then able to hear from Ivan Hajzler, the founder of hiCAD, which is the distributor of CAD/BIM construction design software, how ArchiCAD had grown from an unknown to a recognizable construction design software.

Graphisoft CEO Viktor Varkonyi, the main guest of the event, held the lecture Integral Designing - BIM Cooperation, focusing on ArchiCAD's solution for the cooperation between architects and engineers by means of BIM technology.

BIM technology, which is short for Building Information Modeling, appeared as a term in the late 1990s, while Graphisoft started using that technology, which was earlier known as Virtual Building, in the late 1980s. The respectable guest then spoke about Graphisoft's revolutionary teamwork solution: TeamWork2, which enables parallel work of architects on the same project, regardless of where they are situated and without the need for rental of resources. Participants then used the opportunity to ask few interesting questions regarding the new version of ArchiCAD software.

Our experience in the use of BIM technology was shown by Milan Radoicic from Belgrade-based project bureau ZAP at the example of the design of the main architectural project for Stepa Stepanovic residential-business complex in Belgrade, while Dusko Maksimovic from the London-Belgrade consulting company BDSP presented his experience in the use of ArchiCAD's add-on EcoDesigner. These presentations were followed by a bitter discussion.

Due to a big interest, an ArchiCAD workshop was held parallel to lectures. It was run by experienced architects Zolt Ivanovic and Ivan Peric. It was a great occasion for people to exchange experiences and learn something new in a direct communication.

An exhibition of 13 big posters presenting the projects designed by 7 design teams using ArchiCAD and Atlantic software was opened yesterday in the hall of the building of the Serbian Chamber of Engineers. These works show great capacities of ArchiCAD. The exhibition will be open by the end of March and it is worth seeing.

Another expert meeting aimed at improving the knowledge of designers was ended with a birthday cake in a pleasant ambiance of the Serbian Chamber of Engineers. The host of the meeting is of the opinion that the presented solutions offered by Graphisoft and hiCAD help resolve expert issues, particularly in the use of EcoDesigner, so that they have agreed to continue with the cooperation. Members of the Serbian Chamber of Engineers will be timely informed on the agreed plans.
