When it comes to the production of raspberries, Serbia placed third globally in 2022, right behind Russia and Mexico.

Chile, another big producer of raspberries, but also other soft fruits, placed fourth, as shown by the latest data for last year.

– Our biggest competitors for years, Poland, underperformed last year and has lower quantities. Russians are also an enigma, they don’t export and are not goods producers like others, that is, they only produce for their own market – the leading expert for soft fruits at the Fruit Research Institute in Cacak, Dr Aleksandar Leposavic, said for the Politika daily.

When it comes to fruit farming, in Serbia, the biggest areas are taken up by plums, followed by apples and sour cherries, and the producers are also realizing the biggest production when it comes to these fruits.

According to the aggregated data from 2021, the biggest yields per hectare are realized by apples, followed by plums, pears, apricots, cherries and peaches. As Agroklub announced recently, these are orientation data, which change from year to year, except that plums and apples are dominant practically constantly.
