The Ministry of Mining and Energy has refused to issue approval to the Belgrade company SJ Balkan Group for applied geological explorations of copper and the accompanying mineral association of elements in the Kulmea Lomit location near Majdanpek.

The document published on the ministry’s website says that the negative response is down to the fact that the area that SJ Balkan sought is not free for explorations.

It is said that, for that area, there is already a request from Serbia Zijin Copper, which wants to expand the exploitation field Majdanpek and that the applicant for explorations since 2014 is the Belgrade-based company Geo Consulting Studio for copper and the accompanying minerals in the Coka Walta location.

It is added that, as per Geo Consulting Studio’s request, a court procedure is ongoing.
