Around 6,500 workers from Subotica and the surrounding area are employed at the zone, and the turnover realized in the first nine months exceeds the turnover from the entire last year.

– In the first nine months of this year, a turnover of EUR 750 million was realized in Free Zone Subotiva. Last year, the total turnover was EUR 678 million, which shows that, at the zone, they can already now expect a bigger business success than last year – Sasa Gravorac, the director of Free Zone Subotica, pointed out for the Politika daily and added that those were not yet precise data, but that, according to the numbers available at that moment, an increase in the turnover and a good business trend at the zone were visible.

It's always lively in the Zone area, Politika’s interviewee says and adds that they have recently been visited by representatives of Russian companies and that, during his recent visit to Subotica, the ambassador of Japan expressed an interest in the zone’s operations and that soon they will also have a free parcel to offer to investors.

– By the end of the year, the Zone will expand to Senta, where we already have three interested companies, and to Kanjiza, where property-legal relations are being resolved. We have an excellent cooperation with Republika Srpska, where we made a presentation of the operations of free zones, which they are starting to form as well – Gravorac says. Free Zone Subotica spreads on 72 hectares in the industrial zone Mali Bajmok and 11 multinational companies operate within it, and Subotica also manages the free zone in Kikinda, where one factory operates. In the industrial facilities of these companies, around 6,500 workers are employed, which is to say that this industrial complex is considered an important generator of not just the economic growth of the city, but also a magnet that attracts a large number of residents from the surrounding area.
