The biggest mine within Serbia Zijin Copper, the open-pit mine Veliki Krivelj, recently got 11 new big trucks for the transport of ore and waste rock, whose total value amounts to USD 29 million, the company said in a press release.

The reinforcement in the form of XDE260 vehicles, with a load-bearing capacity of 240 tons, arrived from China, and one truck costs USD 2.63 million, or slightly under RSD 310 million.

According to the press release, the Chinese subcontractors, hired by the producer, are in charge of their assembly, and handymen from the Krivelj workshop have been entrusted with the maintenance.

Talking about the importance of new trucks for the life of the workers and the production, in Veliki Krivelj, they point out that the trucks will facilitate the realization of the production plan.

– Their capacity, which is 39% bigger than, say BelAZ trucks, will be fully pronounced next year, which is crucial for the company, because that is when we plan to reach the maximum production of 72 million tons of excavations and 23.3 million tons of ore in Veliki Krivelj, whose further processing at the new and old flotations should achieve 60,000 tons of copper in the concentrate – says the head of the Krivelj mine, Chen Yaohuang, according to the press release.
