The authors of the studies are national experts for NBSs – Tanja Popovicki for Serbia and Marijana Kapovic Solomun for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The studies map the basic climate risks and dangers, as well as their causes, provide a precise analysis of relevant existing projects which are defined as NBSs and make recommendations for the implementation of those solutions on a national level.
Both studies are an overview of ecosystem services and relevant practices for adapting to the changed climate conditions to the end of reducing the risk of disasters. Based on the information from the relevant global databases, as well as consultations with key national partners, the studies have managed to identify the priority locations for the implementation of NBSs which are further used for the selection of the NBS pilot location in Serbia (Gledic) and the NBS feasibility study in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The pilot project in Serbia is planned for this autumn.
The studies about NBSs for other economies of the Western Balkans in which ADAPT carries out its activities are in the final phase of preparation, which includes commentary by national associates and the authors of the publication.
