Minister Discusses Gas Supply of Industry with Representatives of Tetra Pak – “The Development of the Situation Cannot Be Fully Predicted”

The minister of mining and energy of Serbia, Zorana Mihajlovic, has talked to representatives of Tetra Pak about the gas supply of industrial consumers and the possibilities of overcoming potential problems during the winter. Mihajlovic said that Serbia had secured sufficient quantities of gas through the agreement with Gazprom, in the gas storage facilities in Hungary and the Serbian part of the gas storage facility in Banatski Dvor, but that, in the conditions of the energy crisis in Europe, the development of the situation in the winter period could not be fully predicted, it is said on the website of the Government of Serbia.

– Due to this, there are crisis plans, priorities are being determined and, above all, the meeting of the demands of the local market is taken into consideration. It is especially important for companies which use gas to look into their options for substitution with other energy sources in case of unforeseen situations – Mihajlovic said.

Representatives of Tetra Pak emphasized the importance of gas for the functioning of the facility in Gornji Milanovac, where the packaging is produced for basic foodstuffs, and said that the worry over the issue of the security of supply of gas was present in other European countries in which the company has factories too.
