New building of Belgrade Area Control Center opened

Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic opened yesterday a new, modern building of the Belgrade Area Control Center at the Nikola Tesla Airport.
At the opening ceremony, which was also attended by President Boris Tadic,
Cvetkovic said that that was a modern building belonging to the
category of “smart” buildings.
The Prime Minister pointed out
that the opening of new premises coincided with the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Serbian aviation and the adoption of the new air traffic law.
He
said that the building had been built by a consortium of domestic companies,
with approximately 3,000 workers engaged, adding that the new building had been completed in a year and a half, six months before the deadline.
Cvetkovic said that the opening of the building
was an evidence that our country had the power to work on the largest
infrastructure projects and pointed out that that agency would be one of
the most important institutions of its kind in Europe.
Montenegrin Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and
Telecommunications Andrija Lompar said he believed that the agency would
become a leader in the region in security and technology terms.
Lompar
reminded that the agency was in charge of the air space of Serbia and
Montenegro and 55% of the airspace of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Chairman of the Managing Board of the Flight Control Agency Nikola Stankov said that the new building of the Area Control Center was opened as a part of the Serbian air traffic modernization project.
The ceremonious opening of the new building was also attended by Minister of Finance Diana Dragutinovic and more than 20 directors of flight control institutions from other European countries, the United States and Canada.
The carrier of the works on the construction of the Area Control Center was the consortium led by Projektomontaza. Other members of that consortium were Deneza M Inzenjering, P.S. Telefonija and Ratko Mitrovic Niskogradnja.
