Belgrade Interested in Once Again Hosting Final EuroLeague Tournament

The deputy mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesic, has stated that, on behalf of the City of Belgrade, he has officially addressed the EuroLeague and expressed an interest in having the Serbian capital once again hosting the Final Four, the closing EuroLeague tournament, this or one of the next years.

He specified that he had officially addressed the EuroLeague the day before and reminded that Belgrade had hosted this tournament in 2018, which was assessed as the best organized tournament.

– If you ask the EuroLeague clubs where they want to play, Belgrade wins, because they had a good time and they have good memories of that tournament – Vesic said for TV Prva.

– I believe that our chances are considerable and I hope that we could be the host as soon as this year. They are now making sure not to have the closing tournaments in countries where the restrictions are bigger. In any case, if it doesn’t happen this year, it will happen in one of the upcoming ones – Vesic said and added that Belgrade would host the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships.

This, he added, is the largest media sports event this year in the world, which will be broadcast in over 170 countries between March 18 and 20.

– I am doing my best and I want us to have one big tournament each year in Belgrade. That is a good promotion of sports, tourism, but also our city – concluded Goran Vesic, as reported by Beoinfo.
