The foundation stone for the construction of a tomato processing factory in the local industrial zone has been laid down in Kula, as announced on the municipality’s website. The president of the municipality of Kula, Damjan Miljanic, and the leader of the project and a co-owner of the company BFV-Processing of Tomato and Fruits doo Kula, Zoran Racic, laid down the foundation stone and thereby officially marked the beginning of the works, whose completion deadline is planned for May 1, 2022, whereas regular production is to start on August 15, 2022.

Miljanic said that the construction of the new factory entailed the employment of 100 new workers, and, according to the investor’s plan, 50,000 tons of tomatoes will be processed here next year.

– This is a very important project for the municipality of Kula. With this investment, practically the entire industrial zone is sold out and the facilities are slowly being raised. The construction of one of them started today, on the Day of the Municipality of Kula – said Miljanic and added that the municipality has prepared project documentation for the equipping of the rest of the industrial zone.

Zoran Racic, the company’s co-owner, said that a tomato processing facility was being raised, with a capacity of around 30,000 tons of fresh tomatoes, where tomato paste is the finished product, with the production volume estimated at around 5,000 tons. Racic pointed out that it was a unique project in Serbia and that he saw their opportunity there, and the project is planned to expand in phases, in which there will be five kinds of products, and Tetra Pak has joined the project with EUR 3 million in order to help the production. The value of the project is EUR 11 million.

Let us remind that Miljanic and Racic signed the agreement on the alienation of building land from public ownership this July.
