The minister of mining and energy of Serbia, Zorana Mihajlovic, has talked to representatives of the Chinese company Sinomach about cooperation, Serbia’s potentials in electric energy and the RES sector and the possibilities of having this company invest in new projects that are crucial to the development of energy and economy.

– We had excellent cooperation with numerous Chinese companies at the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure as well. Everything we planned together we realized successfully, of course, with the help of the embassy. All Chinese companies are welcome, especially in large infrastructure projects that we plan to do in the fields of electric energy and renewable sources. The projects in energy and mining that we are launching are worth more than EUR 17 billion, and the biggest investments are in the field of electric energy and capacities which use renewable sources. Serbia has the best investment environment, and Chinese companies, considering their experiences so far, want to invest in energy, because that is the field in which the biggest investments will be made – Mihajlovic said, according to the ministry’s press release.

A representative of Sinomach, J. Yeng, expressed hope that the cooperation in the field of energy would be realized, considering, he said, the company’s readiness to expand its operations in this part of Europe.

– I hope that we will find a joint interest and that we will cooperate on projects. Our company is one of the 500 best in the world in the field of transport, military and power infrastructure. We produce and transport big machines. We have existed for 60 years and are pioneers in many aspects in the Chinese industry and we have over 1,500 patents. When it comes to the Serbian potentials, the possibilities are big, especially when it comes to wind farms, hydro power plants and mining – he said.

The meeting, at which the increase of activities of the Chinese companies was discussed, was also attended by representatives of the Embassy of China, who thanked the deputy prime minister of Serbia for the cooperation so far and the partnership relations in mining and energy and in transport.
