Civil Aviation Directorate to Take Part in Development of New Galileo SAR Project

(Illustration) The Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia has been invited to take part, through its Search and Rescue sector, in the phase of the testing of the new functionalities of the Galileo SAR project – the global satellite navigation and timing system that is being developed by the European Space Agency (ESA) under the aegis of the European Commission.

– Based on the years of activities of the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia on an international level in the Search and Rescue domain, it has been proposed for the Republic of Serbia, along with the National Center for Space Studies of France and the Italian satellite Mission Control Center (MCC), to be involved in the project whose testing phase with Serbia is planned for 2023 – the website says.

Participation of the Galileo SAR project aims to further highlight the activities of the Civil Aviation Directorate on an international level in the Search and Rescue domain and strengthen the position of Serbia as a very active state in this field.
