Implementation of public solar lighting pilot project on part of quay on Ada Huja - Tender for supply of lamps soon

(Ada Huja)
The Energy Administration of the Secretariat for Public Utility and Housing Affairs is preparing a solar lighting pilot project to be implemented on a part of the quay on Ada Huja. Preparation of the documentation is underway and we can soon expect a request for tender to be announced for supply and installation of solar lamps. The Secretariat for Environment Protection of Belgrade is participating in realization of this part of the project.
The project that will permanently solve the problem of lighting system on the quay on Ada Huja will be implemented in two phases: installation of solar lamps alongside the quay - walk, and installation of classical lighting system on the access road to Visnjicka Street. Complete project will be implemented in 2010 and 2011.
– The plan is that the walk on the quay be lit with 40 lamps with solar panels. This is the first time that solar energy is used in public lighting in Serbia. Advantages are manifold: this method represents an ecological solution for reduction of use of fossil fuels, installation is easy, there is no violation of environment, no electricity bills, maintenance costs are minimal, and the life of such lamps is quite long. The lighting control system is automatic for both turning on and off and battery check – said Marko Stojanovic, the Director of the Energy Administration.
The other part of the project envisages installation of lighting system on the access road from Visnjicka Street to the quay and the use of classical way of lighting public surfaces. The lighting system that is now installed on the quay will be moved to the access road from Visnjicka Street where a new electric grid for power supply will be built.
The quay is used by kids, pensioners, sportsmen, bicyclists, and other citizens for various recreational purposes.
