Brnabic: Railways will be the primary mode of transport for people and goods, projects worth over 6 billion euros

Railway projects worth more than EUR 6 billion are planned in Serbia, and the goal is for Serbia to completely modernize its railway traffic and connect the railways with all countries in the region and the EU, said Prime Minister Ana Brnabic at the opening of the Western Balkans Railway Summit 2021 at the Prokop station, the Government announced.

Brnabic welcomed the "Connecting Europe Express" train, whose arrival coincides with today's holding of the Western Balkans 2021 Railway Summit in Belgrade, at the Belgrade Center - Prokop railway station, and stated that railway projects worth over EUR 6 billion are being planned in Serbia.

The Prime Minister pointed out that the goal is to promote Serbian railways as the primary type of transportation, both for passengers and freight, reminding that 2021 is the year of railways in the European Union.

- This is the year of the railway in Serbia as well, but also the year of the Green Agenda, stated Brnabic and added that these two goals go hand in hand, because railway transport, in addition to water transport, is the greenest type of transportation - she said.
