Huge reserves of thermal waters in outskirts of Vrsac - NIS Naftagas finished testing of springs

Long-time assumptions that Vrsac is lying on huge reserves of thermal waters have been confirmed by the experts of NIS Naftagas after months-long voluminous seismic and geoelectrical researches.

- The researches showed that there is a possibility that Vrsac lies on hot water. Based on the results of these researches, the municipality of Vrsac and Hungarian municipality of Morahala will write a project and apply for the EU funds by the end of the year. If we obtain the funds, we will make the first boring and test the quality of water and determine its potential applications - said Cedomir Zivkovic, Mayor of Vrsac.

According to the words of Vladimir Bajic, a member of the Municipal Council for Tourism and Ecology, the intention of the municipality of Vrsac is to use the discovered water, if it is of a satisfying quality, for development of spa tourism, as well as for agricultural purposes.

The experts from NIS Naftagas said that the surface of the researched area was about 9 square kilometers and that the researches determined the location and depth at which water can be found. According to them, the research bores should be made on the road to Margita settlement. They also assume that water can be found on the road to Vatina where researches should be resumed. The deepest boring should be about 450-500 meters deep.
