Construction of Complex for Production of Chinese Vaccines Sinopharm Begins in Zemun Polje – Companies to Equip Location for Future Factory Selected

The Belgrade Land Development Public Agency has awarded the contract for the equipping of the location for the construction of a factory of Sinopharm vaccines to a group of bidders consisting of Belgrade-based companies RAS inzenjering niskogradnja, DC Energocoop, Resa gradnja, Biodekor and GeoSpes.

The price offered for the execution of the works is around RSD 1.67 billion with the VAT (1.39 without the VAT), and the deadline for the completion of the works is 120 days from the possession of the site.

The decision on the awarding of the contract reminds that the Belgrade Land Development Public Agency launched the public procurement procedure on August 2 in the form of a negotiation procedure without opening an invitation for this job which has been estimated at close to RSD 1.47 billion.

The fact that these are urgent works on the construction of utility infrastructure due to the coronavirus situation is cited as the reason for choosing the method of a negotiation procedure.

On the same basis, through a negotiation procedure, the Belgrade Institute for Roads was selected, which prepared the technical documentation for the equipping of the location.

Let us remind that the construction of the Sinopharm vaccine factory was announced back in March. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said at the time that the investment had been agreed in Abu Dhabi and that the factory would be built in cooperation with contractors from the UAE and China and that the production of the Chinese vaccine in Serbia would start as soon as October 15.

He announced that Serbia would provide the land and the infrastructure and that it would invest EUR 18 million in capacities for the filling and packing of flu, tetanus and coronavirus vaccines.

The president of the Urban Municipality of Zemun, Gavrilo Kovacevic, told Tanjug in late July that he expected the construction of the traffic route from Grmec to the parcel for the future Sinopharm factory in the Soko Salas location to begin by the end of August.

He added that, according to the plan, the first vaccines from this factory should be produced at the end of the year.
