In the external trade between Serbia and the UK, the customs tariffs will go back to the values that were in effect when the UK was a member of the European Union, with proscribed quotas for agricultural products. The new agreement was officially signed on April 16, 2021.
The new agreement aims to preserve the trade connections established within the Stabilization and Association Agreement of the EU with Serbia, to establish a free trade zone, to preserve preferential conditions in trade and to ensure a basis for the further trade liberalization.
– The agreement will contribute to reinstating the level of the external trade on both sides and also certainly to preserving the position of the supplier for Serbian companies in the UK market. Of course, the trade is expected to increase, British investments are expected to increase as well, the cooperation and economic relations are expected to be boosted and Serbian exports to the British market, especially of food products, as well as products from the rubber, textile and metal industries, are expected to increase as well – points out Marica Vidanovic of the CCIS.
