A total of 29 new gas-powered buses made by the Turkish manufacturer BMC, bought with the proceeds from an EBRD loan, have arrived to the garage of the Public Transport Company Novi Sad (JGSP Novi Sad).

The company’s rolling stock now features 24 new single buses of the Procity 12 CNG type and 5 articulated buses of the Procity 18 CNG type. JGSP Novi Sad bough these buses through the EBRD loan for EUR 5.773 million after BMC won the contract at a tender which was also organized by the EBRD. In addition to BMC, another two manufacturers from Turkey took part in the tender, the Turkish branch of Mercedes-Benz and Otokar.

The agreement on the delivery of the buses was signed on June 1, 2020. The first buses started arriving to Serbia back in January and February. So far, the vehicles have been parked at the Masinopromet facility, where the displays and card validators were installed, and they also had to wait for the payment by the EBRD in order to carry out the customs formalities and vehicle registration. The Masinopromet company is not acting as an importer here, but just as the logistics support to JGSP Novi Sad, which is the direct importer.
