DP World Novi Sad has presented a new boat called “Albatros” as part of the total investments of EUR 30 million, the aim of which is to make this port a market leader in the region and one of the most important trade hubs on the Danube.
“Albatros”, the company says, will accelerate the capacity of entrance and exit of barges and contribute substantially to the efficiency of the port.
Claudiu Negreanu, the CEO of DP World Novi Sad, said that the purchase of “Albatros” was part of a large investment cycle of the company, worth EUR 30 million.
– Since DP World came to Serbia in 2019, our goal has been for the Port of Novi Sad to be the most important port on the Danube. The “Albatros” boat, our new river thruster, is another step toward reaching that goal – Negreanu said.
The boat was named by the employees at DP World Novi Sad after a survey that was carried out among them, the press release says.
It is powered by two engines of 460 horsepower, is 22.4 meters long and 6.8 meters wide and has a draft of 1.25 meters, which enables it to navigate the Danube-Tisa-Danube canal. The boat is run by experienced captain Slavko Filipovic and his assistant Joseph Papp.
