The paper is titled “A New Integrated Rough SWARA – MARCOS model for Ranking Short Road Sections in Order to Prioritize High Risk Sections”.
The project is the result of cooperation between two chairs at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering in East Sarajevo – the Chair of Transport Engineering and the Chair of Road Traffic and Transport – and the Chair of Technology of Transport Systems of the Department of Traffic Engineering at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad.
Marko Subotic, a team member and professor at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering in Doboj, told the Srna agency that the awarded paper was one of the results of the national research project “The Influence of Geometric Elements of Two-lane Roads in Models of Analysis of Traffic Risk”, co-financed by the Ministry for Science-Technology Development, Higher Education and Information Society of Republika Srpska.
He said that they had developed models for assessment of the most critical sections from the aspect of several important factors.
– The average annual and daily traffic, four types of traffic accidents – with fatalities, material damage, more and less serious injuries. The gradient as the most important factor, as well as the number of access points – Subotic said and announced, for the next publication, an analysis of the impact of the geometric elements of the road on the speed, considering that unadjusted speed is one of the main causes of traffic accidents.
According to him, the models are formed for the assessment of traffic risk on two-lane road section, mostly in B&H, and primarily in Republika Srpska.
– According to the criteria we entered, we had certain sections marked as risky, and the Rudanka-Doboj section proved to be a very critical section. Also, when you consider the descriptive statistics from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, you will notice that there are many fatalities and a lot of material damage on that section – Subotic pointed out.
He said that, based on this project, three papers were published on the SCI list in the categories R21, R22 and R23, one work was published in a national magazine indexed at Scopus, there was a plenary paper at the international conference R31, as well as a defended master thesis.
The conference was held on March 18-20.
