DINKIĆ: Bonuses for public sector employees whose salaries are less than RSD 80,000

Serbian Economy Minister Mlađan Dinkić confirmed yesterday (June 3, 2010) that it had been suggested that all public sector employees whose salaries were less than RSD 80,000 should get one-off cash bonuses of RSD 5,000 each in the first half of July.
- It would not be fair to exclude education, health and judiciary employees, and that the bonuses be paid only to people who clean the buildings and typists – Dinkić said when asked if it was fair for the employees with monthly salaries of RSD 79,000 to get bonus.
Dinkić said that that measure was not meant for the most disadvantaged, but rather for all those who were feeling the effects of the crisis, including the middle class.
He added that ministers, assistant ministers, state secretaries and other functionaries would not be paid bonuses.
Dinkić also confirmed that the money for bonuses would be provided from the profit of the National Bank of Serbia, which had already paid its dividend, while additional funds would be provided from the profits of Telekom and Airport Nikola Tesla.
