Construction of bridge across the Tisa, German donations

Metal structure, the gift of Germany to our country, was brought from Filshofen to Bečej in 2002 and, at first, it was supposed to connect Bečej and Novi Bečej, but the plan has been changed.
The realization of works on installation of this bridge 258 m long (767.5 t), which would represent the artery of the future highway, should start in 2006. This highway would connect Romania-Serbia and Croatia via Kikinda, Bečej and Sombor. In this way, Vojvodina would have the shortest connection to Corridor 10.
The value of the bridge in present condition amounts to €5m, whereas the construction of nine poles and passing spans would cost €3-3.5m.
This steel structure can be installed during one building season if the domestic work groups are hired. Before the works start, it is estimated that the entire documentation will be completed prior to May 2006.
