Brzece-Mali Karaman Gondola to Start Operating Soon, Investment Worth EUR 27 Million

The Brzece-Mali Karaman gondola, which will make traffic on Kopaonik easier to a large extent and contribute to the development of the municipalities beneath Kopaonik, has been completed.

It is expected to start operating soon, the director of the Ski Resorts of Serbia, Dejan Cika, said today.

Cika said for Tanjug that the investment was worth EUR 27 million and that the process of technical acceptance and obtaining of the exploitation permit was in progress.

– I hope that we will get all the necessary documentation this week and that we will put the gondola into operation – Cika said.

According to him, the gondola will have a total length of 3.6 kilometers, and the initial capacity will be 1,600 skiers an hour, with the possibility of expansion to 2,400.

A ride between Brzece and Mali Karaman will take 12 to 15 minutes, depending on the wind and the occupancy of the cabin.

Cika points out that Brzece already has the infrastructure, hotels and apartments, so the ski center Kopaonik will be able to develop as other ski centers in Europe.

Accommodation prices should also be lower in Brzece than in the center of Kopaonik, making for another advantage for the skiers.

The building of the gondola from Brzece started in June 2020. In March, the PE Ski Resorts of Serbia awarded the contract for the public procurement of the works on the construction of the Brzece-Mali Karaman gondola with the accompanying infrastructure to the consortium led by Leitner AG.
