Belje to Take Over Production from Meggle?

(Illustration) The production at the Osijek-based dairy facility is to continue beyond January 1, 2021, after all, and according to the media, Meggle and Fortenova have reached an agreement. After the German corporation leaves Croatia, their production facilities will be taken over by Belje Plus.

Neither side has yet confirmed the information officially, but, according to the findings of Poslovni Dnevnik, the details of the agreement which should soon be signed are being negotiated.

The value of the transaction of the takeover of Meggle's production is not yet known, and, according to available information, Belje is ready to continue cooperating with all of Meggle's current subcontractors, namely 282 dairies, and they also intend to keep most of the employees – 70% of the current 160.

Meggle will pay the remaining workers severances and salaries for their work until December 31. The union says that they are satisfied with the severance payments made by the current employer, as they amount to 25% over the legal minimum. The owner has set aside eight million kunas (around EUR 1 million) for the severance payments, Poslovni.hr reports.
