The unemployment in Serbia is at an all-time low of 7.3%, said Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali and explained that the economic measures had contributed to the preservation of the jobs and the Serbian economy despite the difficult conditions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

In addition to the help to the economy and the citizens, minister Mali says that he is especially proud of the My First Salary program, which, according to his estimate, is a stimulation for additional employment, as said in the ministry's press release.

– This is a great opportunity for young people who have no work experience and have just graduated from high school or university. We are investing RSD 2 billion in them for a paid practice of nine months. For this job and their first work experience, they will get 20,000 or 24,000 dinars a month – Mali said.

He reminded that Serbia had set aside around 12.5% of the GDP, that is, around EUR 5.8 billion of help to mitigate the consequences of coronavirus.

– We are glad that, in the first six months, the economy dropped by only 0.9%, which is a great result, considering that developed world economies are recording double-digit drops – Mali said.
