Turkish Kalyon Group Interested in Building Vukosavlje-Raca Highway

The Turkish company Kalyon is interested in building the highway from Vukosavlje, through Brcko and Bijeljina, to Raca and the Serbian border, for whose three sections Autoputevi RS has opened a tender, the Capital portal learns.

The tender worth 1.3 billion convertible marks (around EUR 650 million) for the Vukosavlje-Raca highway opened two weeks ago and there are already hints of companies and financial institutions being interested in financing, designing and building the highway.

Among those interested so far is Kalyon Group from Turkey, which has built numerous infrastructural projects abroad, including Qatar, Russia, Libya, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

The company was founded in 1974. So far, they've built structures such as hydro power plants, wind farms, residential neighborhoods, factory facilities, roads and highways, airports, gas pipelines... They are also founders of a university named after their founder, Hasan Kalyoncu, cultural and other institutions.

In addition to this Turkish company, financial institutions are interested in the highway as well, among which are Sparkasse Bank and Ziraat Bank, which have obtained the tendering documentation, as well as certain companies registered in Serbia.

Let us remind that the tender for the highway is split into three lots – the Vukosavlje-Brcko section, estimated at BAM 600 million (EUR 300 million), the Brcko-Bijeljina section, which should cost BAM 310 million (EUR 155 million), and the Bijeljina-Raca section, worth BAM 440 million (around EUR 220 million).
