The works on the 103-km Slovak section of the Polish-Slovak gas pipeline are to continue and the pipeline will start operating commercially in 2022, despite the short-term problems caused by the coronavirus pandemic, said the PR of Eustrim, Pavol Kubik.

According to him, two thirds of the pipes have already been welded.

– The coronavirus epidemic has caused short-term complications this summer, making the arrival of the workers difficult due to the closed borders. The situation was solved relatively quickly in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy – Kubik said for TASR.

The main idea behind the Polish-Slovak gas pipeline is to complete the north-south interconnection in east Europe in order to connect the North Sea with the Adriatic Sea and the Black Sea and enable a diversification of the natural gas resources in that part of Europe.
