Giraffe arrives in Jagodina in March, purchase of crocodile in the pipeline

Giraffe, which has been the subject of many writings over the last year and half, is coming to the ZOO in Jagodina next month - Dragan Marković Palma, the Mayor of Jagodina, told Tanjug yesterday (February 25, 2010).
- We did not pay for the giraffe either from the city or from the republic budget, but got it for free from a donor who loves Jagodina - said Marković.
People in the ZOO say that the facility for giraffe was built last year, "according to the highest European standards", and giraffe should enrich the contents of the ZOO and attract tourists. The ZOO in Jagodina, which was opened four years ago, plans to buy crocodiles this year, as well as some new species of birds and monkeys, for which 1m RSD is planned to be set aside.
Last year, the ZOO in Jagodina, the only ZOO south of Belgrade, was visited by over 102,000 people who paid their tickets more than 15m RSD. The entrance is free for the kids younger than five.
Restaurant Tigar in the ZOO registered the income of 33.5m RSD, the cafe's income was 1.9m RSD, while the souvenir shop's income amounted to 2m RSD.
Total of 1.7m RSD worth of ice-cream was sold, and significant income was also registered from the "fast food" sales, pony riding, parking toll and other "secondary" contents.
