Construction of Solar Power Plant in Velje Brdo Planned – Tendering Procedure Expected This Year

(Illustration) The tendering procedure for the construction of a solar power plant in the Velje Brdo location should open by the end of the year, by which time the agreement on the realization of the project is expected to be signed as well, as announced by the state secretary at the Ministry of Economy of Montenegro, Nikola Vujovic.

He said that the process of tendering and lease of land for the construction of the solar power plant was supposed be completed in the third quarter of the year, but that the deadline was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

He reminded that the spatial-planning documentation envisages the construction of a solar power plant of 50 MW of installed power, but that a potential investor pointed to the considerably bigger potential of the location.

– Last year, we were informed by potential investors that the Velje Brdo location has a much bigger potential for exploitation of solar energy than the planned 50 MW. The potential the investors pointed to ranges from 150 to 300 MW – Vujovic said.
