- Modernization of production in the Animal waste treatment factory Žibel in Bačka Topola, which is in progress, should enable application of EU's new directive 1069 in Serbia, which allows cross-feeding of animals - said Željko Stanić, the CEO of the company.

Stanić explained that the directive had been passed in November 2009 and that its application in the EU countries would start in early 2011.

Until then, as he explained, the line that separates poultry from pig waste will be installed in the pound in Bačka Topola and poultry and pig flour will be produced in the further technological procedure, which will be used as additives to the food for so-called cross-feeding of animals.

Animal waste treatment factory in Bačka Topola monthly collects and processes about 1,500 tons of slaughterhouse waste at 70 points in Serbia, which is enough for employment of only 50% of the factory's capacities.
