Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic stated today that the country could open its borders, but added that there was no free crossing of state borders anywhere at that moment. He pointed out that some European countries did not plan to open their borders before June.

At a session of the National Assembly of Serbia, he said that all countries required some form of a confirmation or permit for entrance during the coronavirus pandemic.

– Within the road map made by the EU, the opening of borders does not belong to the first measures to be implemented, and some countries do not plan to do so before June – he said.

According to him, citizens living in a 50-km border belt and who have land or work on the other side of the border, can cross without restriction.

He said that only Hungary had started implementing those measures and added that an agreement with Bulgaria was in progress and that he expected the implementation to start in the next days.

– Negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina were difficult, and we had expected them to be easier, as there are many people on both sides who expect this to happen – Dacic said.
