On the southwest coast of Lake Palic, within the religious complex Vodice/Bunaric, the construction of commercial features, including accommodation and hospitality facilities, is planned.

The City of Subotica has announced an early public review regarding the preparation of the detailed regulation plan for development and construction of religious complexes and commercial features beneath the Senta Road.

The investor in the plan is the City of Subotica, and the developer is the public enterprise for road management, urban planning and housing Subotica.

The total area covered by the plan is 7.2 hectares.

– This space is a pilgrimage spot for both Catholics and Orthodox Christians. There are two small chapels here, an Orthodox and a Catholic one, and the place has several names: Bunaric (Croatian), Szentkut (Hungarian) and Vodice (Serbian) – meaning “a small well” in all languages – the document says.

In addition to the religious buildings, there are also the accompanying features, whereas, southeast of it are parcels used for family residence, which will be repurposed with this plan into commercial features and a religious complex.

According to the plan, the existing religious facilities are to be kept, and two religious complexes are planned within the area – Bunaric and the Evangelical Complex, with the accompanying commercial features.

– The preparation of the urban plan would create a planning basis for the development and construction of the accompanying features. Between these two religious complexes, tertiary commercial features (accommodation capacities, hospitality, commerce...) are to be build – the Plan says.

The religious complexes and commercial features will take up 40% of the area each, and new parking spaces are planned as well, considering the existing problem with parking in the area.

The plan says that the area does not feature waterworks or sewer.

The early public review ends on May 5, 2020.
