"Yugorosgaz" to start construction of main gas pipeline from Niš to Macedonian border in 2010

- "Yugorosgaz", a daughter company of "Gazprom" through which Serbia procures gas from Russia, should start construction of the main gas pipeline from Niš to Macedonian border next year - people from the Ministry of Energy confirmed to "Politika" on Friday (December 11, 2009).
Milan Budimir, who is in charge of public relations in that ministry, explains that "Yugorosgaz" officially became the contractor for this big project once the Law on determination of public interest in expropriation of property for construction of main gas pipeline has been adopted.
Construction of the gas pipeline should include three phases. The first phase anticipates construction of the pipeline between Niš and Leskovac, the second phase includes construction of Leskovac-Vranje section, while the pipeline from Vranje to Macedonian border should be built in the third phase.
Once the whole project is completed, the gas pipeline network will offer about 80,000 new connections, while total consumption will amount to about 3.5m cubic meters of gas.
